Company updates Heronia Inaugurates Thessaloniki Branch by GTP editing team 1 July 2001 written by GTP editing team 1 July 2001 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 9 Helen Trentzos has come a long way since she left her job in a Piraeus shipping company, and as a sharp looking young woman opened a travel office in the early 1970s that specialized in seaman travel. Since then, Heronia Travel has become one of the country’s most successful tour operators. It took yet another major step forward this year with the opening of an office in Thessaloniki. And like the Athens office, it is big (185 square meters), airy, modern and fully owned by the company. Ms. Trentzos says the office may be new but that the company has had representation in the northern capital for years and thus “has a very strong base for development.” Like the Athens office, it is an IATA member and will concentrate on outgoing travel, commercial accounts, incentives and FITS. Heronia is also the exclusive representative for Thai International’s Royal Orchid Holidays and Active Thailand packages that include golf, trekking, mountaineering, diving and exploring for both individual and business travelers. Helen and John Trentzos -husband John left a very successful banking career to take on the economic side of the operation in the 1980s,- say expansion plans will not stop with the Thessaloniki branch. If all goes according to plans, this year will see new branch offices in Glyfada and Kifissia. “Since the first day of operation, we have been very careful to ensure the first step has had a very secure base before we took step two and so on,” says Ms. Trentzos. “This method has proved very successful and we will continue to implement it.” Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
