Hospitality International Advisor To Apply Greek Hotel Star System by GTP editing team 1 August 2001 written by GTP editing team 1 August 2001 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 8 The long awaited star system for Greek hotels may finally get off the ground later this year. The Hellenic Tourism Organization has called for an international advisor to assist in the implementation of hotel categorization through an international star system it has partially developed with the cooperation of the Greek hotel sector. On the selection of an advisory company, its main task will be to go over the rules and regulations of the new system created by the organization. After any and all changes, the advisor will then apply the accepted rules and regulations to Greek hotels that have an operational license from the organization and class each from a one-star to a five-star category. The number of stars will depend on the space of each room, and the comforts and services each hotel unit offers to guests. The star classification will be applied to classic hotel units, motel-type units (three to four stars), and hotel units in furnished apartment style. But don’t expect all this to happen in quick succession. First, the organization must call for tenders of interest. Once that is completed, the organization will select those it considers the best and ask them to submit binding offers. The next step would be to evaluate those offers and the best of these would negotiate with the organization’s special committee selected for the purpose. After negotiations, the final party would be chosen and the appropriate agreements signed. Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
