Some 200 travel agents arrived for the gala night-out event held at one of the capital’s most up-market hotel complexes. Worldspan’s sales manager, Theo Pitsinelis, said the company simply wanted to recognize the wonderful cooperation it has with its Greek customers, and said he was especially pleased that so many agents from points such as Rodos, Crete, Patras and even Ikaria arrived for the event. Special guest at the event was the head company’s vice president of e-commerce, Tim Wright, who spoke on the need for agencies to get into e-commerce if they haven’t already. He said the future was here and that even with the terrible events of the past few weeks we must not stop moving forward. The Worldspan group offers e-commerce tools and professional consulting services to support business-to-business and business-to-consumer Web sites. As a matter of fact, Worldspan says it is the market leader in e-commerce for the travel industry, and that it processes more than 50 percent of all online travel bookings. Their services include an offer of a full complement of custom solutions designed to let any site enjoy full connectivity and functionality with the company’s worldwide network and travel resources. The entire group provides global electronic distribution of travel information, Internet products and connectivity, and electronic commerce capabilities for travel agencies, travel service providers and corporations worldwide.
