Culture Dora Stratou Performances Underway by GTP editing team 1 July 2003 written by GTP editing team 1 July 2003 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 13 Each presentation is considered a unique spectacle that illustrates the various cultures of Greek regions In the idyllic surroundings of Philopappou Hill, opposite the Acropolis, in the Dora Stratou garden-theatre, regional cultures come to life during the warm Athenian summer nights. In all, some 75 dancers, singers and folk musicians present folk songs, traditional music with traditional instruments and folk dances from distinct areas of Greece, all complete with authentic local costumes. Each presentation is considered a unique spectacle that illustrates the various cultures of Greek regions. The theater itself has the reputation of being a major conduit in keeping alive Greek traditions. Performances, which continue non-stop for about 85 minutes, run from 23 May till 28 September: Tuesday till Saturday at 21.30 hours; Sundays at 20.15 hours; Mondays closed.
