The study says that Greeks fail to take proper measures to protect against diseases when traveling to under-developed countries and that 60-70% of these travelers will have a health problem during their trip. The study shows that only 54% of Greek travelers bother to get general health information on the country they are about to visit and a mere 21% ask for medical advice before traveling to a destination considered highly dangerous for infectious diseases. Nor do the majority of Greek travelers bother to check for immunization against diseases such as hepatitis A. And three in four Greeks that travel to countries with a history of malaria said they had no knowledge of such a fact.
