Hellas Flying Dolphins says it will start off the new year with two new catamarans to be named Flyingcat 5 and Flyingcat 6. The new vessels are scheduled to ply the North Sporades linking the islands of Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos with the ports at Volos and Aghios Konstantinos.

The two sister catamarans were built in Norway this summer and can handle 340 passengers and skim the waters at 32 knots. With the new vessels, the company will replace its six old hydrofoils on the routes.

The new flyingcats have the power to execute routes during winter weather that’s impossible for the hydrofoils to sail in. Another two vessels are on order for the Cyclades.
