The festival includes 16 athletic events with the participation of thousands of executives from more than 150 companies throughout Europe. The Corporate Games were founded in 1987 with the express purpose of helping executives improve their physical well-being, their overall morale and their cooperative spirit within the workplace, all through participation in competitive sports. The three-day event also includes a day of B2B meetings among participating companies. As well, organizers say the games promote the importance of athletics, international friendship and business development. Along with the aforementioned, the games promote the city hosting the event within the global business world. And along with the support of the country’s culture ministry and the tourism development ministry, the games have the full support of the City of Athens. The majority of the 16 events programed -with the exception of such events as golf, Dragon boating, mountain biking and carting- will take place within the Peace and Friendship Stadium. Organization of the event is being handled by Zita Event Management, a subsidiary of Zita Travel, with Aegean being the official airline and Hertz the official car-rental company.
