For the fourth year in a row, the island of Poros hosted its international Yachting Symposium. The annual event has been held on the island every May to promote Greek marine tourism. Parallel with the symposium was a presentation of the deluxe Greek yachts available for charter. This year, organizers said that more than 100 international yacht charter brokers, who represented some of the biggest yacht chartering offices in Europe and North America, were on hand for the event. The Greek participation included 60 luxury yachts and 30 yacht brokers. Along with the marine tourism promotion activities, special events included a cuisine contest among acknowledged chefs and a wine-tasting forum with the cooperation of selected Greek wineries. The event, under the auspices of the Poros Municipality and the Tourism Development Ministry, welcomed a number of political personalities, including the tourism minister, Dimitris Avramopoulos, who told visitors that “this year (tourism) is definitely better than the last. New roads of optimism are open to us.” Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
