For locals or visitors to really get in touch with a country, its culture and landscapes, then there is no better way than by bicycle. Cycling vacations come in many shapes and sizes. They range from relaxing city and country tours to biting mountain tours. Greece now has them all with the opening of PameVolta offices, which is a breath away from the streets that surround the archeological sites of downtown Athens and a few yards from the subway station “Acropolis.” The new company -bicycle rentals with suggested routes, and guided bike tours- says it has worked to make cycling destinations as accessible as possible, with carefully graded itineraries, excellent tour leaders and support vehicles. Bike trips planned allow occasional cyclists to relax, recreational cyclists to explore, and experienced cyclists a challenge. For an Athens tour, the company provides customers with a city map of suggested bike routes that guarantee a pleasant and safe ride in Athens. Tips include ways to avoid the Athens traffic along with a guide to streets and hills for a breathtaking view. Guided tours are available for five to 20 persons. PameVolta says it is constantly exploring new routes in an attempt to make each and every bike excursion an unforgettable experience. Besides the city tour, the company offers suggestions for relaxing bike rides to the seaside or adventurous mountain biking. Other tours include ones to Marathon, Varibopi, Parnitha, Epidavrus, and Ancient Olympia. Each bicycle trip can be adjusted to any cyclist’s needs. The company says it also provides transport bicycles and other equipment to the destination of your choice. This gives customers the opportunity to arrange bicycle excursions outside Athens by ordering bikes either to their hotels or any destination. Basic bike rentals start at seven euros for anywhere up to eight hours, while a full day’s rental runs at around 14 euros. Multi-day rentals would run at around 12 euros per day.
