Surveys, Trends & Stats A Good Year, But Next Year Even Better by GTP editing team 1 October 2005 written by GTP editing team 1 October 2005 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 5 The strong rise in the number of foreign visitors this year should not cause officials to relax their efforts to solve the problems of the tourism industry, the Association of Greek Tourist Enterprises said last month. The circumstances are positive for Greek tourism to achieve today what it has not in the last 20 years, according to all local tourism associations. For example, the Attica Hotel Association said business in July was considerably brisker than in the same month last year and that the general conclusion from 2005 so far is positive. The rise in figures, even if the percentage is still in single digits, is encouraging for the future. The association’s president, George Tsakiris, said he expected even better results for next year. Both associations expect to hear more on the subject during the dialogue on tourism with the occasion of the fourth SETE conference “Tourism and Development” that takes place in Athens this month. The conference will present the results of a survey on the competitiveness of Mediterranean tourism destinations conducted in Greece, Spain, Turkey, Cyprus, Egypt and Croatia.
