Mohamed Elkhazmi, general secretary Arab-Hellenic Chamber; William Habib, the forum’s ambassador for Arab countries; Christos Folias, deputy minister of national economy and finance; Evripides Stylianidis, deputy minister of foreign affairs; and Anastasios Antonopoulos, president of Arab-Hellenic Chamber.

The first forum, “Historic Relations and New Horizons for Cooperation,” is being organized for September 14 and 15 by the Arab-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce & Development, and will be held in Athens.

Having just completed its 25th year, the chamber hopes this forum will provide thorough research on the current situation, further development of economic cooperation between Greece and the Arab countries, and outline the future trends of the countries’ trade relations.

Chamber president Anastasios Antonopoulos explained at a press conference announcing the forum that there are many reasons this forum is needed. Greece, he said, has always been a friend to the Arab countries and has strong geographic, historic, cultural and trade ties that have lasted for centuries. And Greece, as an EU state, is a natural bridge between Europe and the Arab world.
