Humanitarian Aid to Lebanon

The Arab-Hellenic Chamber in cooperation with the Messinia Chamber organized a humanitarian aid effort to ease some of the suffering in war-torn Lebanon.

The two chambers arranged for a container filled with critical necessities, such as milk, canned goods, diapers, tools, tents, blankets and fire extinguishers, to be shipped last month.

In support of this initiative, the Hellenic Association of Travel & Tourist Agencies, sent a request for contributions to the container to all of its members.

In another initiative, the Louis Cruise Lines ship, Serenade, was sent to Lebanon with a “Doctors of the World” humanitarian aid shipment consisting of about eight tons of food and three tons of medicines. Another Louis ship, the Princesa Marissa, transported passengers, some wounded among them, to safety in Cyprus. Both ships participated in efforts to remove civilians from the war zone on behalf of the Canadian government.
