MICE Mediterranean Travel Fair Being Held in Cairo by GTP editing team 1 September 2006 written by GTP editing team 1 September 2006 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 11 Opening night at last year’s MTF Despite tensions in the Middle East, the Mediterranean Travel Fair 2006 (MTF) will be held in Cairo from September 5th through the 7th, and by all indications it is set for a great start. Trade pre-registration has exceeded expectations and is currently up 100% from the corresponding period last year. “We understand the impact of such tensions but are pleased that they do not prevent exhibitors and visitors from pursuing business,” said Chris Chackal, MTF group exhibition director. “Egypt has traditionally been a very safe and stable venue even during more acute spells of turmoil. We expect participants and visitors to feel comfortable coming to Cairo for the event,” Mr. Chackal added. The only dedicated travel exhibition for the eastern Mediterranean, MTF 2006, being organized by Reed Travel Exhibitions, has attracted 35 new exhibiting companies for a total exhibition area of 2,499 square meters. Greece, the featured country this year, has an exhibition area of about 160 square meters. On opening night, Greece will host a gala dinner at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza hotel. A total of 27 countries are represented this year. Five of these are attending the event for the first time, namely, Brazil, Bulgaria, France, Serbia and Uganda. The hosted buyer program, a new feature last year, is now double in size and is attracting incentive buyers from around the world. A seminar program will offer visitors the opportunity to learn about a variety of travel and tourism topics. Reed Exhibitions is the world’s leading organizer of exhibitions and conferences. Reed brings together over 90,000 suppliers and more than 5.5 million buyers from around the world every year generating billions of dollars in business. Today Reed events are held in 38 countries throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. Reed Exhibitions is part of Reed Elsevier, a FTSE 100 company and world-leading publisher and information provider.
