Surveys, Trends & Stats Greek Consumers Satisfied with Package Travel Services by GTP editing team 1 February 2007 written by GTP editing team 1 February 2007 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 3 Although the recent problem with Sun Mediterranean -a travel agency that left Greek travelers stranded in Vienna- was a future incident, a Eurobarometer poll found that a mere 4% of Greek consumers were dissatisfied with package travel services in their country. In Germany, 6% said they were dissatisfied. On the other hand, 30% of Italians were dissatisfied with package travel offered by agencies in their country. Other countries showed better results – Austria 17%, Cyprus 16%, Spain 14%, Great Britain 12%, France 10%, Hungary 15%, and Czech Republic 10%. The country with the best rating, 100% satisfaction, was Portugal, but on the whole, the average for dissatisfaction with packages travel in the European Union of 25 stands at 11%, according to the poll. Nonetheless, the European Union this year intends to publish a “green book” that will include a renewal of its directive on group travel. Presently, the group travel directive in force (90/314/EOK, June 13, 1990) explains that any group travel or vacation or sightseeing package clearly brochure or descriptive missive describe everything concerning the package. As well, every information sheet given to consumers must be precise and clear on all aspects of a package including price, destination, route, type of transport, type of lodging and if any meals are included. The new directive is expected to be even stricter for agencies that create travel packages for consumers.
