The mass exodus of passengers in anticipation of the August fifteenth national holiday celebration reached its peak in early August as ferries departed from the ports of Piraeus and Lavrio at one hundred percent capacity.

According to statistics collected by the ministry of merchant marine, from the start of the summer period up until the twentieth of August there were 28,237 scheduled routes on which 7,509,965 passengers, 906,848 cars and 211,752 trucks were transported.

For visitors to Piraeus port there exist air conditioned tents, which act as waiting rooms for passengers, and new bus services to transport passengers between key points of Pireaus port.

There also exist billboards that guide and inform passengers on arrivals and departures of buses as well as departure gates of ferries.

All routes were carried out as scheduled with added aid from the port authority and only Corsica Express was delayed during the holiday period, due to mechanical failure.
