Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo 2008

Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo 2008Greece was the country of honor at the “Borsa Mediterranea Del Turismo” tourism exhibition that took place on 4-6 April at Naples. The aim of the exhibition was to strengthen cooperation and ties between members of the travel industry in Mediterranean countries. As the country of honor, Greece held a press conference within the framework of the exhibition where participants of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) stand presented their respective regions.

Piraeus Prefecture was part of the GNTO stand and used the exhibition to promote Piraeus and its surrounding areas, the islands of the Saronic Gulf, Kythira and Antikythira. Piraeus Prefect, Yiannis Mihas, announced the prefecture now has “A dynamic approach to tourism promotion for the region with the aim to increase tourism to the islands of the Saronic Gulf, Kythira and Antikythira whose economies are dependent on tourism.” Visitors to the Piraeus Prefecture stand received fully revamped and multilingual -also translated in Italian- information on the region in printed and electronic form. The three-day BMT exhibition attracted some 17,000 commercial visitors.
