New seaplane carrier Argo Airways (a member of Kanapitsa Group) is expected to commence twice daily flights from the port of Volos to Athen’s Flisvos Marina this month and extend its routes to Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos and Thessaloniki later in the summer.

The flight duration from Volos to Athens is 35 minutes and the ticket costs 83 euros. The flight duration from Volos to Skiathos is 15 minutes and costs 45 euros, Volos to Skopelos is 20 minutes and costs 49 euros and Volos to Alonissos is 30 minutes and costs 52 euros. The two seaplanes on these routes have a capacity for 20 passengers each.

The new carrier has requested financial aid from local authority insofar as the necessary infrastructure is concerned, that is, the construction of four landing docks at Volos and the Sporades islands.

The cost of this investment is some 12,000 per dock that the port of Volos and respective port authorities are called to cover.
