Happenings FAM Trip for Russian Tour Operators in Greece by GTP editing team 1 June 2008 written by GTP editing team 1 June 2008 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 5 A familiarization trip was co-organized by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) and the Hellenic Association of Travel and Tourist Agencies (HATTA) for 19 tour operators from St. Petersburg who flew to Athens on Rossiya Airlines, which recently launched this direct route. The group from Russia included executives from the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RUTI), tour operators and managers from the largest travel agencies in St. Petersburg, Russian media and Rossiya Airlines representatives. HATTA arranged for the group to go to Poros Island where they attended the inauguration of the 7th Nautical Tourism Symposium. The Russian familiarization trip included visits to Mykonos, Santorini, Patmos, Heraklion and Rodos where they held B2B meetings with local tour operators and local authority representatives. The Russian tour operators were shown archeological sites and large-scale resorts, were given a tour of local vineyards and tasted the local cuisine. Athens was the last stop of the familiarization trip where the group was given a tour of the historic center, visited Hellenic Cosmos at the Foundation of the Hellenic World and held B2B meetings with members of HATTA.
