The Louis Group recently purchased two new cruise ships, “Norwegian Majesty” and “Norwegian Dream” for the fleet of Louis Cruise Lines. The group invested 249 million euros in its plans to renew its fleet. It purchased the two cruise ships from Star Cruises at 143 million euros for the “Norwegian Dream” and 106 million euros for the “Norwegian Majesty.” According to the group, the purchase of these two new cruise ships is the most significant renewal of Louis’ fleet in its 22-year history and “Aims to strengthen its position as a leader in the cruise sector for the eastern Mediterranean.” Both the “Norwegian Dream” and the “Norwegian Majesty” are new generation cruise ships that can host 2,156 passengers in 875 cabins and 1,790 passengers in 731 cabins respectively. The renewal of Louis Cruise Lines’ fleet is in line with the announcement of the sale of the company’s oldest vessels, “m/v Princess Marissa” and “m/v Serenade.” Louis Cruise Lines began its cruises in 1986 with the “Princess Marissa” undertaking two-and three-day cruises from Limassol Port to Rodos, Egypt, Beirut, Syria and the Holy Land, and extended cruises from Piraeus Port to the Greek islands. The group asserts the significance of the “Princess Marissa” as it “Placed Cyprus on the cruise map and formed the foundation of Louis Cruise Lines, a cruise company that today is the 5th in the world and a leading one in the European cruise market.” Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
