Ioannina and Preveza at Cyprus Travel Exhibition

The prefectures of Ioannina and Preveza had a dynamic presence—with stands and new information material -at the 11th Cyprus tourism exhibition “Taxidi 2008” (9-11 May) in Nicosia.

Spyridon Drougas, manager of Ioannina’s prefecture tourism department, attended the exhibition and expressed his satisfaction that after a four-year absence, “Ioannina has a dynamic presence this year with new printed information material that helps prospective visitors understand who we are and what we have to offer.” He added, “We successfully showed visitors to the stand that Ioannina prefecture has beautiful natural surroundings and the required tourism infrastructure to support them.” Ioannina Hoteliers Association Chairman Konstantinos Vlachos was present at the exhibition and congratulated the prefectural administration of Ioannina for its hard work and preparation for the exhibition and asserted, “Cypriots have always loved, love, and will always love Ioannina.”

Theodoros Vergos, chairman of Preveza’s prefecture tourism committee, was also present at the exhibition and stressed that this is Preveza’s second time at “Taxidi 2008” and “The aim is to establish the prefecture as a preferred tourism destination for Cypriots, who have a high standard of living and income and can therefore help the further development of the region.”

President of the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents (ACTA) Akis Kelepeshis opened the exhibition and gave special recognition to Greece in his speech and stressed that it is the most popular destination for Cypriots. According to recent statistics, out of 1,080,512 trips conducted by Cypriots abroad in 2007, 438,388 were trips to Greece. ACTA are the organizers of this annual travel exhibition.
