Public Works and Environment Minister Yiorgos Souflias recently announced the development of a zoning law for tourism by the end of the year.

Tourism Minister Aris Spiliotopoulos welcomed the endeavor with the assessment that it could significantly assist to the further development of Greece.

“Of course the zoning law must meet certain conditions, such as the separation of the satiated from the non-satiated areas, the individuality of each region and to be fully harmonized with the environment and, above all, with the architectural tradition, culture and history of each region.”

Mr. Souflias also announced the establishment of two new zoning laws, one for industrial activity and one for the creation of renewable sources of energy by mid-September, along with a zoning framework for coastal and mountain areas.
