Chamberlain Square in Birmingham, U.K., was transformed last month into an urban oasis as a “Greek beach” was set up that provided residents and visitors the opportunity to sample the Greek experience.

Between 26 June and 3 July, some 150,000 individuals were offered a virtual trip to Greece and given the chance to relax on sun beds that were placed on golden sand.

Under the Greek National Tourism Organization’s tagline “Greece: A Masterpiece You Can Afford” visitors enjoyed original Greek cuisine and were photographed with well-known Greek beaches as backdrops.

In addition, daily concerts that featured live Greek music took place while throughout the course of events visitors won trips to the Greek islands through radio contests organized by the GNTO and 96.4FM BRMB.

The Greek beach activity week was organized by the Greek National Tourism Organization office for the UK and held under the support of Monarch Group.
