The main topic of this year’s conference is “The role of tourism in the rotation phases of the economy: long-term planning and operational readiness” and it will be held at the Divani Caravel hotel. “Especially for the Greek economy, whose structural problems for many years had not allowed its desired development, it is necessary to rethink the role of tourism within the general economic policy,” the association said. The association believes that within the revision of the economic development model of Greece, a new role for tourism must certainly be examined. According to the association, tourism has shown that over time it is more resistant to crises of other sectors and most importantly it recovers faster. Keynote speakers at the conference will be representatives of international organizations (UNWTO – World Tourism Organization, International Hotel & Restaurant Association), representatives of tourist business associations from abroad and representatives of tourist businesses. The association’s annual tourism and development conferences have proved important to open discussions and create public dialogue on tourism and are aimed at investors, entrepreneurs, senior business executives and public sector officials who aspire to have an active role in the development of Greek tourism.
