Greek Hotels Cut Minimum Prices

The minimum hotel prices for 2010 will be reduced by five percent, according to a decision announced last month by the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels.

According to the chamber, this decision gives hoteliers a clear direction over this year’s pricing policy as they try to attract European and Mediterranean tourists amid the prolonged economic crisis.

“However, this should not affect the level and composition of offered services,” the chamber said.

The chamber said that the drop in minimum hotel prices gives a clear message to the country’s major tourism market-sources that Greece holds its tourism service prices at reasonable levels, fully compatible with the value of offered services.

The decision was made during the chamber’s second meeting of its new Board of Directors.

Also was approved a proposal for financial aid to Haiti earthquake victims through international humanitarian organization UNICEF.
