Surveys, Trends & Stats ITEP: Arrivals To Make Weak Recovery In 2010 by GTP editing team 1 March 2010 written by GTP editing team 1 March 2010 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 4 Foreign arrivals to Greece are expected to rise slightly by some two to three percent this year, while repercussions from the 2008 economic crisis will result to tourism revenue continuing its negative trend, according to a recent announcement by the Research Institute for Tourism and Forecasts (ITEP). “It is difficult amid this volatile environment that prevails in the global economy to predict accurate tourist arrival figures, as the consumer/tourist is dominated by uncertainties and insecurities and drastically cuts costs,” ITEP noted. ITEP underlined that it was even more difficult to predict this year’s tourism revenues. According to the World Tourism Organization, a slight recovery in international arrivals for 2010 is expected if the world economy recovers. However, other agencies and organizations predict that European tourism would move on 2009 levels in terms of arrivals. Greek press reports said that, according to experts, the Greek economy may succeed to pull out of recession in the last quarter of the year, depending of the tourism industry’s performance this summer.
