Trade Associations - Gov Greece Targets Serb Tourists by GTP editing team 1 April 2010 written by GTP editing team 1 April 2010 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 5 The Culture and Tourism Ministry intends to redefine the classic “sun and sea” formula and promote tourism services that are not restricted to three months but offered throughout the year, Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister Angela Gerekou recently said in an interview to Serbian newspaper Novosti. “The ministry is showing special attention to prepare the upcoming season for visitors from the Balkan countries, particularly Serbia,” she said. Commenting on the fact that for years Greece has not advertised in Serbia, the deputy minister stressed to Novosti that this would not continue, as Serbian tourists are the majority of visitors to northern Greece. “For this purpose we are preparing a serious campaign for Serbia and other Balkan countries,” she said. According to a recent survey by the Serbian Association of Tourist Agencies (YUTA), roughly 50 percent of Serb tourists plan to spend their summer vacations in Greece this year. Last year’s survey saw 40 percent of Serbian tourists highlight Greece as the most popular tourism destination.
