Greece’s presence at Expo 2010 is a good start to introduce Greece as a tourism destination to China, according to the Culture and Tourism Ministry.

In late April a presentation of Greece’s participation in this year’s Shanghai Expo was held and it was highlighted that the ministry’s aim is to establish permanent tourists from China to Greece.

According to the ministry, actions have already been made to simplify the process for Chinese citizens to obtain a visa to travel to Greece.

Shanghai World Expo 2010 opened its doors to the public on 1 May and will run for six months, until 31 October. The theme of the international trade fair is “Better City, Better Life.”

The Greek pavilion “Polis” -created by Greek architect Alexandros Tombazis- covers a space of 2,000 square meters and condenses 24 hours in the life of a Greek city.

The Greek pavilion will be in the center of attention on the occasion of Greek Day on 19 June.
