Trade Associations - Gov American Tourists Opt For Greece by GTP editing team 1 August 2010 written by GTP editing team 1 August 2010 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 12 The negative climate on the attraction of tourists from the United States, following the tragic events that occurred in May with the death of four Greeks, seems to have reversed, the head of the Greek National Tourism Organization in the U.S. Chrysanthos Petsilas said last month. “We expect arrivals to remain at last year’s levels,” Mr. Petsilas told the press. The GNTO head in the U.S. also noted that mobilizations of expatriates and calls by expatriate media contributed to the sidelining of the negative effects American media references made in regards to the situation in Greece. Press reports mentioned that during an event at the Alexander Onassis Foundation in Manhattan, representatives of major travel agencies in the U.S. attended the screening of the tourism campaign of Starwood Hellas hotel group.
