“Our destinations are a cure for the stress and intensity of everyday life because of their close distance to Athens and Piraeus,” Piraeus Prefect Yiannis Michas said recently.

In late July the Piraeus Prefecture held a two-day event in the center of Athens for the tourism promotion of regions and islands within its jurisdiction that are considered ideal for all-year-round weekend getaways.

The prefecture’s campaign “Turn to the Argosaronic Gulf” highlights the major advantages for long trips to the nearby destinations of the Argosaronic Gulf islands (Egina, Hydra, Poros, Spetses), the peninsula of Methana with its famous hot springs, the Trizinia region and the Kythira and Antikythera islands.

The event was held at the Panepistimio metro station on the Korai pedestrian walkway in central Athens.
