Destinations news Culture Program Planned For Thessaloniki by GTP editing team 1 October 2010 written by GTP editing team 1 October 2010 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 7 A special program to begin in Thessaloniki whereby each year a different country or region would be in the center of attention in regards to tourism and cultural issues was presented last month by Culture and Tourism Minister Pavlos Geroulanos. The program entitled “Thessaloniki Cultures Crossroads” sees Thessaloniki hosting a geographical region every year for five years. According to the minister, the program aims to the coordination of the action of the cultural agencies of Thessaloniki, so the considerable wealth of the city is utilized in the best possible way. The first culture to be featured in Thessaloniki will be that of the Middle East, Israel included, in 2011. Southeastern Europe will be featured in 2012, followed by China in 2013, Russia in 2014 (Greece-Russia year) and the United States in 2015. The culture and tourism minister underlined that the cultures to be featured were not randomly selected as they are emerging tourism markets for Greece.
