Key Tourism Figures Evangelos Stavropoulos by GTP editing team 1 November 2010 written by GTP editing team 1 November 2010 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 13 President, Greek Union of Air Travel Agencies Philoxenia 2010 greeting. Greece’s heavy industry is tourism and the Philoxenia tourism exhibition is the premier event to promote and support it. This year’s Philoxenia has surfaced in the midst of a difficult time but the timing is perfect as it offers Greek tourism professionals the opportunity to exchange ideas and close business deals. Moreover, worldwide travel professionals have an opportunity to obtain hands-on experience with the country, the people and the services. This can be considered as a “once a year opportunity” for Greek tourism professionals to gain valuable knowledge on what’s happening abroad, promote Greece by word-of-mouth and create new packages and products. At the present time of the international economic crisis, our union believes that Greece must continue to invest, grasp opportunities and adapt to new concepts by insisting to offer a high level upgraded product with services combined with the natural hospitality of its people. As tourism will continue to be the “steam engine” of our economy, I am convinced that Philoxenia will help Greece be among the top choices of visitors and international travel professionals. I wish every success to the organizers, exhibitors and participants of this grand event. Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
