European Expo will host the first International Cultural, Religious and Pilgrimage Tourism Exhibition from 31 March to 3 April in Athens.

The four-day tourism exhibition will focus on religious, cultural and historical treasures.

“Religious and pilgrimage tourism are the only long-lasting forms of tourism in times of an economic crisis and recession,” said Aggeliki Augoustinou, director of European Expo.

According to World Tourism Organization data, the turnover of this form of tourism is estimated at 15 billion euros worldwide. Approximately 300 million people travel each year to religious sites.

The exhibition will take place at the European Center of Exhibition and Promotion (EKEP), which covers a surface of 17.000 square meters and is located at the 12th kilometer of the National road Athens-Lamia, in Metamorfosi.
