The annual yacht show, held 7-12 May, was open to international charter professionals and private yacht brokers and offered a broad display of 74 Greek-flagged luxury crewed yachts for charter. The Charter Yacht Show on Poros has grown into a respected international institution that has enabled the marine tourism community to become acquainted and promote the country’s private yacht fleet and hence Greek tourism. Poros Mayor Dimitris Stratigos, Greek National Tourism Organization President Nicolas Kanellopoulos and Hellenic Professional Yacht Owners Association President Antonis Stelliatos at the reception after the launch of the Charter Yacht Show-Poros 2011. The island’s mayor strictly reminded the government that Poros is in need of marine tourism and not fish farms. Island locals have expressed their determination through legal means to overturn a joint ministerial decision of seven ministries that approved the creation of an industrial fish farm on the coast of Poros. The event was organized by the Hellenic Yacht Brokers Association and the Hellenic Professional Yacht Owners Association and held under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization.
