The National Confederation of Hellenic Commerce has launched a campaign aimed to stimulate local Greek markets by attracting tourists and Greek consumers to shop, the Greek press said last month.

The new campaign is titled “AGORA” and promotional material to inspire consumers to shop include a special sticker with the slogan “Discover agora, shopping in Greece” and posters.

The sticker is to be displayed on the doors of department stores and aims to inform the tourist/shopper that the specific shop maintains the standards for a good shopping experience.

The campaign also consists of a poster with the creative phrase “Greece: sea, sun & shopping” while a second poster will be displayed on the doors of shops that went out of business.

“To brighten up the depressing image of a closed shop we use an attractive woman on the poster (so as to boost female entrepreneurship) that asks: ‘is your new shop here?’ the confederation told the press.

The confederation has sent the promotional material to all of its federations and commercial associations and invited them to participate in the campaign and help stimulate local markets.
