Hospitality Campsites To Be Classified With Star Rating System by GTP editing team 1 October 2011 written by GTP editing team 1 October 2011 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 9 Organized campsites in Greece will now be ranked according to a star-rating system, from one star to five stars, based on mandatory technical and functional specifications and ratings criteria, according to a Council of State decision that approved a relevant draft presidential decree. The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) will provide a special operation seal, similar to that of hotels, to campsites. In regards to the star categorization for each campsite, a team of GNTO officials will conduct inspections. According to the press, it is obligatory for a camping area to cover at least eight stremma in areas outside a town plan or within controled residential zones in which the creation of camps for tourism purposes is permitted. Campsites operating within a year after the publication of the presidential decree in the Official Gazette of the Hellenic Republic must apply to be categorized and to obtain the special seal of operation, otherwise their licenses will be revoked.
