More than 35 travel agencies from Crete attended the workshop and were informed on developments of existing applications. Professionals learned of new applications that make full use of the latest technology and Travelport’s vast content for professionals. Travelport recently launched a new hotel program that gives Travelport GDS-connected travel agents guaranteed access to the lowest publicly available rates from a wide range of global hotel groups. The ‘Lowest Public Rate Program’ was launched recently on both the Galileo and Worldspan GDS and agents booking via the program have the ability to find and book the lowest public rate of the day offered anywhere by the participating hotel. Travelport also recently launched a new add-on application for the Galileo Desktop, the Travelport Smartpoint App, which infuses the cryptic environment (Focalpoint) with a hybrid of native and point-and-click navigation, plus graphical user interfaces to speed up the reservation process, reduce call handling time and improve the agent user experience. Travelport Smartpoint App evolves the Galileo Desktop with dynamic and interactive technology to improve travel consultant productivity and customer service by combining efficiency of command entries with clarity of graphical overviews and click-through links. In addition, Travelport and FastBooking, a leading online solutions provider for the hospitality industry, have reached an agreement through which FastBooking client hotels are displayed and bookable on www.travelportroomsandmore.com, Travelport’s recently launched ground breaking hotel booking tool. This tool allows travel agents to book a greater choice of commissionable accommodation and take advantage of the rapidly growing hotel sector. Travelport will hold another workshop for travel agents in Nicosia, Cyprus, on 13 December. Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
