Santorini, Chalkidiki, Thessaloniki, Mykonos, Paros, Folegandros, Crete and Andros were introduced last month as destinations with ideal hotels for gay and lesbian tourists at this year’s international tourism trade fair FITUR, held in Madrid, Spain. At the tourism fair, Greek hotels took part in a segment that promoted LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) travel that aimed to introduce Greek and Cypriot destinations to the gay community and inform on which hotels openly welcome “all clientele.” Greece’s participation at FITUR 2012 was part of the innovative program destsetters.com of the company “The Trendsetters by morantis” that displays a series of selected hotels, businesses that provide services to gay/lesbian tourists. The Greek hoteliers are currently collaborating with gay tourism experts so as to become educated on “Gay Comfort” and offer top-notch services to tourists of the LGBT community. Greek hotels that have enrolled in the program and were introduced at this year’s FITUR exhibition are hotels Andronis Exclusive, Imperial Med, Aqua Suites, Armeni Village, Pegasus Suites & SPA and Sunny Villas in Santorini; Elea Village Resort in Chalkidiki; Anatolia Hotel in Thessaloniki; Archontiko and Dionysos Hotel on Mykonos; Archipelagos Resort Hotel and Paros Agnanti Hotel on Paros; Pigados Hotel & Villas on Folegandros; Thalassa Beach Resort and Vritomartis Hotel & Bungalows on Crete; and Perrakis Hotel on Andros.
