According to the memorandum, the mutual promotion of both countries’ tourism would take place via the exchange of information and promotional material and cooperation between travel agencies of both countries. Also, the memorandum calls for cooperation in the field of sustainable tourism development and in particular for the development of special forms of tourism such as rural tourism, cultural tourism, marine tourism, etc. Cooperation in the field of tourism education and training was also agreed on. “Greece is a great challenge for the Arab world for investment and strategic synergies, particularly in tourism, due to the uniqueness of the Greek natural environment and cultural and geographic proximity,” Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister Petros Alivizatos said. According to organizers, the aim of the forum, coordinated by Deputy Prime Minister Theodoros Pangalos, was to highlight investment opportunities in Greece, synergies and partnerships in tourism, energy, aviation, banking, environment, shipping and innovation.
