Aviation News website honored the best companies and personalities in the Greek aviation field last month at the Sofitel Athens Airport Hotel. Prior to the award ceremony, IATA presented an Oxford Economics study on the economic and social benefits of air travel to Greece. It was noted that air carriers contribute 2.5 percent to Greece’s GDP and support some 100,000 jobs. In addition, some 1.2 billion euros are paid annually in taxes and social security contributions from Greek companies engaged in aviation.
