A revamped Philoxenia will take place 22-25 November 2012 at Helexpo in Thessaloniki.

Following 27 years in the field of travel trade shows, Helexpo will organize this year’s Philoxenia international tourism exhibition in Thessaloniki with conference and event organizer ARTION. The aim is to highlight and establish the exhibition as the biggest tourism event in the Balkans and the wider region of Southeastern Europe.

“ARTION has identified the reasons of Philoxenia’s decline and we are operating dynamically and consistently to overturn last year’s image,” Despina Amarantidou, president and communication manager of ARTION Conferences & Events, told GTP.

Philoxenia 2011 did not leave the best impression on the Greek tourism industry as it showed a descending trend in regards to exhibitor and visitor attendance.

However, this year’s international tourism exhibition, scheduled for 22-25 November 2012, will redefine its objectives and seek new destinations.

“To achieve the increase in exhibitors and trade visitors we are meeting with associations, municipalities and businesses across Greece and the Balkans to communicate the real change that has occurred, regain their confidence and ensure the participation in Philoxenia,” Ms. Amarantidou said.

According to Helexpo, special events that focus on new technologies and tourism marketing via the Internet will take place at this year’s exhibition.

One of the highlights of Philoxenia 2012 will be the scheduled religious tourism conference.

“Philoxenia has a long and important history and we are determined to meet Helexpo’s expectations,” Ms. Amarantidou said.
