International arrivals at Greek airports dropped some 2.5 percent in the first eight months of the year, according to the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE).

The number of travelers arriving from abroad declined to 10,301,155 from 10,560,658 in the same period a year earlier.

According to SETE, if arrivals to Athens are excluded from the total of international arrivals, then the sign is positive (+0.4 percent).

Arrivals to the Greek capital dropped 11.93 percent during the January-September period to 2,128,914 against 2,417,412 last year.

Greek airports that showed an increase in international arrivals are those of Thessaloniki (7.43 percent)*, Kerkyra (7.36 percent), Chania, Crete (8.89 percent), Kefallonia (13.32 percent), Mykonos (5.72 percent), Skiathos (4.28 percent).

* It is noted that Thessaloniki’s arrivals are not separated between Greeks and foreigners.
