“We are forming a new development model at the Tourism Ministry, one that will support the leading role of tourism in the economy,” the general secretary of tourism, Anastasios Liaskos, said while addressing a group of European journalists at an event held yesterday, Tuesday, 11 December, at the Acropolis Museum in Athens.

Mr. Liaskos underlined that the Greek tourism ministry is creating Greece’s new tourism identity “step by step,” with an emphasis on safety.

“Safety for a stable economic environment. Safety for investment and tourism business. Safety for growth and competitiveness. Safety and anti-bureaucratic procedures,” the general secretary of tourism said.

Mr. Liaskos referred to the ministry’s strategy planned for Greek tourism development that is based on:
– Developing a modern institutional framework for tourism and its alternative forms (marine, medical, religious, sports, conference, etc.).
– Supporting entrepreneurship through investment facilitation and the efficient use of NSRF funds.
– Ensuring the quality of tourism infrastructure and services.
– Investing in the human capital of Greece.
