SETE’s Director General George Drakopoulos. The association is calling on all enterprises and organizations that responsibly serve the Greek tourism sector (hotels, catering services, airlines, shipping companies, food and beverage manufacturing companies, food and beverage outlets, cooking services, recreational and cultural areas, tour operators, enterprises of household and business appliances, etc.) to support the initiative as it can create win–win scenarios for all involved. The fundraising campaign “Gastrotourism – Food for Development” is an initiative that presents opportunities of interest for a large number of companies associated with the gastronomy sector, either directly or indirectly. Launched in September 2012, the fundraising campaign is still in its first phase, which is to spread awareness and gather the initial sum of 200,000 euros by Spring 2013. SETE aims to get the project officially off the ground in three years. To succeed this, the total amount of 500,000 euros is needed. The project is based on SETE’s marketing study conducted in 2009.
