The committee aims to develop spa tourism and thermalism (therapeutic use of hot-water springs) in Greece and promote the wealth of Greek hot-water springs. The certified thermal springs are Loutraki-Pozar (Aridaia), Souroti (Thessaloniki), Kanistra (Kassandra, Chalkidiki), Kallithea (Rhodes) and Loutraki-Perachora (Corinth). According to a press release, the ministry aims to upgrade the country’s natural thermal resources as an added value to the overall development of the national tourism product. Moreover, the draft law, recently released for public consultation, specifically refers to the development of spa and thermal tourism in Greece and mentions in detail the conditions for the certification of Greek thermal springs.
