Destinations news Major Tourism Investment On Kea Gets Go-Ahead by GTP editing team 24 January 2013 written by GTP editing team 24 January 2013 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 11 The first tourist accommodation complex in Greece will be built on Kea after a major investment proposal was recently given the green light by the special tourism investment service* of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO). According to press reports, Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni and Alternate Minister of Environment Stavros Kalafatis signed a joint ministerial decision in regards to a 30-million-euro investment proposal of Dolphin Capital Investments group. This will be the group’s second investment in Greece under the “Aman Resort” Asia luxury resort brand. In March 2013, Dolphin’s Amanzoe resort on Porto Heli will begin operation. The tourist accommodation complex on Kea will cover 645.5 stremma and have a capacity of 230 beds. It is said that 250 new jobs will be created during the construction phase. The resort will hire a corresponding number of employees when it begins to operate. The investment includes plans for a five-star hotel with a capacity of 94 beds, furnished holiday homes of 136 beds, a 2,864 square meter thalassotherapy center designed to accommodate 100 guests and a center for diving tourism. The investment on Kea is the first of a total of 11 investment proposals that have been submitted to the GNTO’s special tourism investment service. Other proposals involve the creation of tourism accommodation complexes on destinations such as Milos, Ios, Crete, Boeotia, Achaia and Chalkidiki. *The special tourism investment service is a “fast track service” established for the faster licensing procedure of tourism investments.
