Greece And Israel Agree On Tourism Cooperation

greece-israel“We want to further develop the important market of Israel in Greece,” Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni said after meeting her Israeli counterpart Stas Misezhnikov, today, 5 February, in Tel Aviv.

The Greek tourism minister is currently on an official visit to Israel on the occasion of the IMTM 2013 expo (International Mediterranean Tourism Market).

During the meeting, both sides agreed to cooperate further to strengthen Greek-Israeli relations in the tourism sector. Also discussed were issues on attracting Israeli investments to Greece.

“400,000 people come to Greece from Israel and we want to increase this number next year,” Mrs. Kefalogianni said.

During her speech at the IMTM 2013 expo, the Greek tourism minister spoke of “friends and allies” when she referred to the people of Israel.

Mrs. Kefalogianni presented the major axes of Greece’s tourism policy and made particular reference to the development of special forms of tourism that could attract Israeli visitors, such as cruise, marine, medical, spa, diving and rural tourism.

She also underlined that Greece is a “safe and democratic country” where the foreign visitor does not have anything to fear.

At the IMTM 2013 expo, Mrs. Kefalogianni held meetings with leading tour operators to attract Israeli tourists to Greece.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, 6 February, the Greek tourism minister will be accepted by Israeli President Shimon Peres.
