Athens Airport Honors Airlines For 2012 Development

Athens International Airport (AIA) honored airlines that recorded the highest passenger development in 2012, during the 13th Airline Marketing Workshop held at the airport on 14 February 2013.

As every year, AIA presented its annual awards to the airlines that demonstrated the fastest development and succeeded in recording the highest increases in passenger numbers in their scheduled services during 2012.

AWARDS

• Best Performing New Airline Award: Transavia.com / Honorary Distinction: Air China

• Best of the TOP-10 Airlines Award: Cyprus Airways / Honorary Distinctions: Turkish Airlines, Air France

• Fastest Growing Airline in a Thin Route Award: Royal Jordanian

• Fastest Growing Airline/Seasonal Routes Award: Transaero

• Top European Destination Award: British Airways (for London) / Honorary Distinctions: Aegean Airlines, easyJet

• Top Destination Outside Europe: Qatar Airways (for Doha)

• Fastest Growing Airline Award per geographical region 2011-2012:

– Western Europe: SAS Scandinavian Airlines/ Honorary Distinctions: Turkish Airlines, Air France
– Eastern Europe: Aeroflot
– Middle East: Etihad Airways / Honorary Distinctions: Qatar Airways, Middle East Airlines
– Africa: Egypt Air
