sl 11The Iberostar Hermes Hotel of M Hotels, located in Agios Nikolaos, Crete, was granted the international eco-label “Green Key” that confirms the hotel follows sustainable management principles in its daily activities.

Iberostar Hermes Hotel complied with a series of criteria as regards to energy consumption, water consumption, waste management, use of environmentally friendly products, quality of food and beverages, the conversion of open spaces into green spaces and environmental education to staff.

The label is awarded for one year. Every year again the candidates have to show that their environment-friendly efforts are sufficient to obtain the label.

A “Green Key” is a quality label (eco label) for environment-friendly tourist accommodation and is part of an international program coordinated by the Foundation For The Environmental Education (FEE). It currently runs in 17 countries worldwide.

Greece’s national operator of the program is the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature.
