According to Reuters, the competition authorities are said to open an in-depth investigation into the case and therefore delay the issuing of its verdict, which was originally set for 23 April. The two Greek carriers had made an attempt to merge in 2010 but the EU competition authorities had blocked the deal citing anti-competitive concerns. The former state carrier Olympic Air has been owned by Marfin Investment Fund since it was privatized in 2009.
