British Actor Stephen Fry Tours The Acropolis Museum

“British tourists love Greece and see the country as an ideal, safe holiday destination,” British actor Stephen Fry said after a tour of the Acropolis Museum today, Tuesday, 16 April.

The British actor was accompanied by Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni and the museum’s president, Dimitris Pantermalis.

“Global civilization owes a lot to Greece and we must never forget that,” Mr. Fry said.

Mr. Fry is currently on holiday in Athens and will stay in Greece until the end of the week. During his stay, he will visit Ancient Olympia and the islands of the Argosaronic Gulf. Yesterday he toured the archaeological site of Delphi.

Messages from abroad are optimistic

On her part, Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni referred to Mr. Fry as “a real friend, who reproduces the message that Greece is a safe and welcoming country through twitter.”

“This is very important for our country at this critical period,” Mrs. Kefalogianni said.

When commenting on the progress of Greek tourism, she said that messages from abroad are optimistic but “more work still has to be done.”
